August 1, 2009

See, it's been 5 months! I am going to do quick updates, but I want to get something on there!

Dallin- finished school, was the big helper- grading papers, checking over spelling lists etc. He loves webkinz and now has 3. Started piano lessons in July and is picking them up very quickly. He had a fun run and came in second in his heat. He is very sweet with his brother and sister but still fine on his own. He catches me and makes sure I keep promises that I make.

Emily- is a bundle of energy! Very independent, still likes to catch bugs. Does things before I can tell her no. Still likes to shove things in her purse. Very helpful with babies. She is very sweet and loving.

Bryce- talking like crazy!! Knows all his ABC and almost all of the lower case ones. Can count to 20, knows his shapes and colors. Still not long sentences. Loves to say, "Bryce's turn, Emmy's turn, Daddy's turn, etc" Still loves to rock out to music especially Jeff' s music. Very independent when we go places, but then cries if I am not right next to him. Loves babies and will bring them blankets and bottles. Still pretty demanding.

I am feeling like I need to have better routines. I am working on this. If I think of anything else, I will write it down. I will not get on myself for not writing every month.

March 2009

Well, it is month 2 and here I am! I am excited to keep track of the kids this way.

Dallin- He is enjoying his tetherball court, playing for hours at a time, even in the cold. It is out front, so any of the neighbors can come join him. I even play with him a couple of times. He can beat me if I play "medium". He has his phonograms memorized so well it is amazing. I am trying to encourage him to play with his brother and sister more. He is getting a little more sarcastic, which we are trying to keep from turning into rude!

Emily- She is working hard on the potty training. My focus has been to not make a big deal about accidents, but really praise when she stays dry. She has stayed dry twice through the night. I was told by 2 of the moms in preschool that she really listens well and understands concepts better than the other kids. I was relieved to hear this. She loves to make up her own songs and plays with her princesses well by herself. We went to see Beauty and the Beast last night and she loved it. A funny comment by her is when she saw a bald guy in front of us, she said, "I can see his brain head." It made me laugh. She is very observant and catches little details of things. She is great with Bryce and loves to help him get in trouble. She also loves helping when I watch other babies. She is a lot of fun, but is a fighter. She says "No" a lot and throws fits. We are working on it. I am working on my patience with it.

Bryce- This month has been HUGE with his talking. I knew it would come. He copies any word we say. He says More Please and Milk Please on his own. He saw a picture of a little girl and said, "Alice." He tries to sing his ABC's and catches many of the letters. We are now trying to teach him to recognize them. He loves Eye of the Tiger and today did part of the rhythm perfect on the drums!! He wanted to listen to it over and over in the car. He climbs out of the crib and the pack and play, but is happy and gets out of his room to play. He plays in the toy room more by himself or with other kids. He loves to pull chairs all over the house. He is fighting nap time more, but I am not giving up!! He says Dallin, Emily and Bryce. He answers questions that start with "Who wants this or Who loves that" by saying, "Me." He is very ticklish, more so than the other kids. He has always loved music and tried to sing when he couldn't talk. He knows many animal sounds now. He loves to do puzzles.

February 2009- Let's Do This!

I love the idea of writing about my kids so that they will remember what they were like growing up. The first of the month my goal is to write a few things about each of them. It doesn't have to be long. So, here goes!

Dallin- It is his birthday today and he is 7!! His favorite things are tetherball, Guitar Hero, Pokemon, math. He loves to do multiplication and asked me to make up problems for him. He struggled a little bit with the division that his teacher gave him. He didn't like that it didn't come easy for him.

Emily- She is learning to sound out letters. If you ask her what a word starts with, a lot of times she tells you the last letter. She still loves to talk, especially in primary. She asks a lot of questions. She is still not fully potty trained. We had a rough week this week. I tried to really focus on getting her to stay dry. I just worry about her sitting in wet panties. So, we stayed home for 3 days. She had a big accident and I really lost it. I called Jeff and asked him to meet me at the Dr. because I needed help. Come to find out she had a UTI and that is why she wasn't making it to the potty. I felt horrible and I slept with her that night. She is so quick to forgive. I am going to be more patient with her. She loves to watch ballerina movies and dreams of dancing on stage. She is taking swim lessons and getting braver. We went to the beach as a family and she liked swimming with water wings. She let Jeff let go of her which is a huge step. She is great with Bryce. One day during nap she heard him crying and didn't know I was in the room. She walked in and said, "Hey Bryce Bryce are you ready to get up or do you want your binky?" She got him out of bed and took him downstairs. It was very sweet. She is still pretty feisty and stands firm in her ways.

Bryce- This month has been fun with him overall. He is playing more on his own. He loves the toy he got for Christmas. He also tries to do the wooden puzzles now. He loves to climb on chairs and get into things. He gets mad if he doesn't get his way and he is a screecher. We are trying to get that stopped! He always has his binky and blanket in his hand when he gets out of the crib. He still doesn't have many words, but he will repeat. He did say "more please" this week which was his first sentence. He will say thank you if Dallin or Emily says it first. He loves to giggle when prayer is being said. He loves to sing songs and we have been going to library time.

Yeah, for month 1!!
